CaseWare is a data analytic tool that help customers work more effectively, gain deeper insights and see further along the road that leads to change for the better. This tool is used from a small audit firm to government organizations like Canada Revenue Agency.
I was a user experience / interface designer who got trained in data visualization. This helped me transform the look and feel of CaseWare's data tables and data visualization in a user friendly and intuitive way.
The main challenge was very technical. CaseWare IDEAs backend was very outdated and this gave us little to no room for front end adjustments. Instead of being stuck using the legacy framework our talented developers provided a web integration option where we can redefine the look and feel while still using the existing powerful backend features where our customers rely upon.
There was a big learning curve to understand CaseWare software. At the same time I had to learn how to make data visualization beautiful and more importantly create accurate dynamic experiences. The result turned out great, we were able to validate with qualitative user research guided by my manager and mentor. The auditor who we user test were very happy to see this new and intuitive interface and was very excited to use it.
